Managing Health While Working For Long Hours !!!!

When you’re busy with something for long hours, your health takes a beating. People who have shorter length of time between work shifts sometimes skip meals, eat irregularly, eat unhealthy junk food, drink gallons of caffeine and may find it hard to keep up a regular exercise schedule. These people are at higher risk for weight gain and cardiovascular diseases. Eating healthy and exercising help improve your sleep, and your overall health.
Some tricks to maintain your health and keep you hale and hearty:
  1. Avoid junk food and have healthy foods at your beck and call. Stock your kitchen with easy-to-eat raw vegetables, nuts like almonds, peanuts and raisins; so that when you’re tired and hungry, you make healthy food choices.
  2. It is better to carry your own food to work. Avoid restaurants, road -side snacks or vending machines. You are more likely to eat healthily if you pack your own meals.
  3. Eat small, frequent meals as opposed to large heavy ones. Heavy meals make one sluggish and tired as they often have more calories than most people need in one sitting.
  4. Have regular timely meals to avoid acidity, indigestion and various other health problems. It’s hard to stick to a regular diet if you eat very late at night or throughout a shift.
  5. Having relaxed meals leads to good digestion. So do not hurry. Pause for meals. Eat at a relaxed pace. Eating on the go or in front of a computer encourages mindless snacking.
  6. Limit your caffeine consumption and also limit your caffeine intake four to five hours before you go to sleep.
  7. Drink plenty of fluids. Your body cannot distinguish between hunger and thirst. Bring a water bottle to work and fill it often. Not only will you save money on bottled drinks, but you’ll treat your body as well. Infuse your water with your favorite flavor to make it interesting.
  8. Healthy body and mind go hand-in hand. Go take a walk, walk up and down stairs, or stretch before or after your shift or during your breaks.
  9. Have your beauty sleep. People who have adequate sleep are healthier, make the right decisions and make smarter choices. Remember that you can space out sleep with naps if a single period of rest isn’t possible with your schedule.
