Now that the two MAT examinations for September are
almost upon us, the hectic preparations must be concluding. CBT or the
computer-based test will take place on 14 September. PBT or the paper-based
test will be held on 21 September. Don’t forget the great importance of obtaining
qualifying scores in this most significant examination of its kind in India.
Admissions to over 600 B-schools are based upon the test results. HRD, Govt. of
India approved MAT has been held in high esteem since 1988 when it commenced.
Regarding online registrations, 8 September is the last date for the CBT, and
16 September is the last date for PBT. A candidate can appear for both
tests.
Conducted four times a year, MAT is held in May and
September, December and February. Based on MAT scores, Global Institute of
Business Studies and many other B-schools screen candidates for admission. PGDM
and BBA are the most prestigious courses taught at GIBS, a postgraduate course
and the other an undergraduate course. The best
B school in Bangalore wishes to recruit high caliber boys
and girls who have an aptitude and interest, skills, and ability to carve out
successful business careers. Test scores are proved by research to indicate if
candidates possess the required qualities.
Conducted all over India and availed by lakhs of
students, MAT is conducted by AIMA and is widely recognized even by university
departments. Evaluation and results use up to date technology, and the picture
of the candidate appears on the scorecard.

· Mathematical Skills
· Indian and Global Environment
Final thoughts and strategy
It is rightly said that the examination hall is the
highest battlefield! After weeks and months of preparation supported nowadays
by ample multimedia materials and free downloads, what really matters is the
final performance. Take enough rest during the last week before the exam and
eat and sleep well in order to be physically fit. Avoid stressing the mind with
new study materials and do revision work based on short notes of lessons
studied earlier.
Best Management Institutes with Placements in
Bangalore offer great careers
through internships and placements with leading companies. You have to cross
the hurdle of the entrance test first.
CAT 2019 reminders
Registration for CAT 2019 that commenced on 7 August
and ended on 18 September. Admit Card download commences on 23 October evening.
24 November is the CAT 2019 test day. Tentatively, 6 January would be the
result declaration.
IIMCAT conducts the CAT entrance test once a year.
CAT scores are accepted for admission to IIMs and more than a thousand other
B-schools. IIM Kozhikode will conduct CAT 2019. The 2-year full-time AICTE approved PGDM program considers
CAT scores for admission too.
CAT syllabus
While changes occurred in the 2018 exam, the 2019
exam brings no changes in the curriculum or exam pattern. The three sections
will contain a total of 100 questions:
Ø Quantitative Ability
Ø Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Ø Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Exam preparation techniques for MAT and CAT
While there is almost no preparation time left for
MAT in September, much more than 2 months are left for the CAT test. While some
boys and girls have been working for many months, perhaps going to tutorial
classes or attending private tuitions, some take it easy. Studying
independently and belonging to a study group is possible, but the tutor or
tutorial institute has vast experience, show the way well, and bring greater
confidence.
Understanding the syllabus and question paper
pattern very well
Take another tour of the exam structure and the
detailed break-up of the syllabus. Remind yourself time and again of the larger
picture instead of being lost in details. Divide the available time almost
equally but keep in mind the individual strengths and weaknesses. A hard copy
time table should be made, and diligently followed. If weak in mathematics or
data interpretation, give it more time. If language is the weakness, a few
extra hours may solve some problems.
Practice and more practice
No mystery or magic exists in examinations! Use a
timer and go about working out model question papers and papers of previous
years. A group would do that better. Simulated exam situations are the only way
to better scores. Avoid getting depressed over low scores. It is the way to
score better. If the entire exam seems too much, take it up part by part
initially before attempting them all together.
Meanwhile, continue reading newspapers and follow
the news media but avoid getting involved in multiple events. Don’t attend
late-night parties or gambling sessions that might destroy the patient
concentration on what lies ahead. A sustained preparation mentally over weeks
and months will culminate on that crucial day. After the right exam preparation
and in a positive frame of mind, the MAT or CAT might seem to be just another
of the several simulated tests already done. Get the qualifying score and an
opportunity to join the top 10 PGDM colleges in Bangalore!
